Local insurance company Alliance Insurance has partnered with Chaperone Limited – a mobile money platform – to ease payment processes for clients to use ‘C-Pay. The platform is available across all local networks.

Speaking on behalf of Alliance Insurance management, Palesa Mapuru said the C-pay mode will help clients to avoid long queues. She said the partnership comes at an appropriate time when the Covid-19 pandemic has taken over the normal routine of life, compelling the nations to adopt to digital solutions.

Alliance Insurance’s client services officer Lipuo Sehloho advised Basotho to support the product as it is owned by Basotho. She said C-Pay, as the name signifies, will be used in districts, adding that it creates convenience for clients who will not have to go to Alliance offices.

“I am impressed that we are moving to e-commerce platforms. Most importantly this product is invented by young people. We want to give Basotho an easy way of paying their bills at all times. What makes us even happier is that C-pay is available everywhere. This is indeed a perfect partnership,” Sehloho said.

Chaperone’s marketing agent, Karabo Nkolenyana, indicated that Chaperone Limited is owned by Basotho shareholders and is regulated by the Central Bank of Lesotho. She stated that the C-Pay is now operating in Maseru, Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek and Qacha’s Neck. It is yet to extend to other districts.

She said the registration is free and one can download C-Pay application from Google store or approach the nearest C-Pay agent to deposit money.

“This platform enables one to send and receive money, buy airtime for all mobile networks, make payments for electricity, pay insurance premiums including Alliance Insurance as well as paying piece job service provider. C-Pay is one of our products and we are hoping to establish more products that will change Basotho lives for the better,” Nkolenyana stated.

She mentioned that C-Pay has 245 agents and 30 merchants across Lesotho.
