The minister of education and training, ‘Mamookho Phiri says it is critical that the ministry through Council on Higher Education (CHE) should ensure that quality is not compromised even in the midst of challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the official launch of CHE Quality Assurance Ambassadors in Maseru on Wednesday this week, Phiri said the initiative comes at the right time given the challenges that education is faced with in the country and the world over due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has imposed changes on how teaching and learning take place.

She noted all institutions are compelled by the prevailing circumstances to seriously consider blended learning or fully fledged ODL.

The minister said she had been informed that the ambassadors have been identified and selected as CHE QA ambassadors because they have accumulated wisdom gathered over the years, not only through their studies, but also through their wealth of experience.

“While approaches to teaching and learning may change, quality is a constant which should be maintained at the same level at all times.”
