Suspected child rapist charged

A 57-year old man of Thaba Tseka has appeared before the magistrate court for rape after allegedly sexually abusing a three-year girl.

According to police, the victim was playing with other kids on August 2, when they entered the suspect’s house to eat.

The other kids then went outside, leaving the victim alone with the suspect in his house.

Upon their return they barged into the house without knocking, and found the man putting his clothes back on while the victim was lying on the bed with signs of being in pain.

The kids rushed out to call for help and the community members who rushed to the scene found the baby’s private part severely wounded.

Reports further state that the man has no known next of kin. He has in the past been accused of history of his own family having sex with animals, although he was never charged.

However, police assistant communications officer ‘Mareabetsoe Mofoka, did state that bestiality (sex with animals) is illegal.

The suspect is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday next week. He remains in police custody.
