A quest to learn as much as possible about herbs led 27-year old Machitja Tlali to start a business called Health 101 which has seen him brand his products and make his recipes unique.
Tlali, who is a registered nurse, says Health 101 is basically about the general health of the public similar to a herbal clinic.
The nurse-cum-entrepreneur who hails from Makhoakhoeng Ha Chaba in the Botha-Bothe district but now resides in Maseru, told theReporter that the idea of working with herbs started when he got inspiration from a lot of people but he opted to mention one man he regarded as his mentor.
“I met a certain white man while on a mission of helping children and old age people in 2020. He was in love with herbs and I got inspiration from him because he loved herbs,” Tlali said.
That prompted him to want to learn more about the plants as he grew up in a rural village.
He was also ambitious to learn more about the traditional medicines and their effects on health of people.
“Actually I just don’t specialize on weight loss herbs but also can help women who are infertile,” Tlali said.
Tlali, a volunteer for community developments said that he wants to establish a clinic where he could sell his healing plans.
The youngster also works at a child advocacy centre and Lesotho children foundation. He is willing to concentrate on helping people to fight obesity so as to live a healthy life.
“There is lack of support on the government side, but on the community side there is great support from the people who use my plants. Most of them are interested in knowing more about the plants,” Tlali observed.
The child activist noted that he has testimony that the herbs have much power to health some ailments.
“These plants are powerful. Gone are those times when the herbs were regarded as part of witchcraft,” Tlali urged.
Having small botanical garden, Tlali goes to the mountains to harvest some plants he uses to help his customers.
