From Thiby being Tumi’s client to business partners and friends, the 22 and 25 year-old dames, respectively, decided to get into business together to help people’s skin glow.
Easy access to making body scrubs is what made the business succeed, while the idea of body scrubs started between the months of February and March 2021 while initially they were engaged in making facials, manicure, pedicure, massages as well as make-ups.
The two joined hands in an equally shared venture to added body scrubs in May to an already existing business ‘Beautgenix_ls’.
Born, ‘Mamotheba Maisa, Thiby explained that a body scrub exfoliates dead cells and helps brighten the skin. In addition, it brings out the inner glow of the skin and is an anti-aging agent.
Thiby told theReporter that people do buy body scrubs for their bodies. Their company, she added, is still hunting for local customers.
The bulk of users of similar products buy them from outside the country.
The Motimposo-born youngster revealed that they used sugar instead of salt because they need a rough texture for exfoliating the dead skin cells.
She added that they considered different skin types; what goes well with the skin.
“We tried to be organic as possible and we are big on the environment and tried not to add preservatives.,” she said.
She said that they used sugar from Lesotho Sugar Packers and essential oils from Flora while mint grows naturally.
The two realized that people actually needed body scrubs but “they just don’t know more about it yet.” It was only after a few of her friends realised how soft her hands looked that they began to enquiry about the products she used.
Boitumelo Mahahabisa, aka, Tumi told this publication that their business puts a premium on good service to clients thereby ensuring that they satisfy them.
The beauty and make-up artist stated that what stands out with the “clients’ body scrubs, is that they are all organic as they are made with natural exact, lemon zest, mint leaves and rose petals.”
No chemicals and preservatives are added.
The rose petals are blended and the rose essential oils are added for a good odour.
The Khubetsoana-born added that the body scrubs are mostly for all skin types. But she advised that if one wants to lighten a certain area of the skin, use of lemon is highly encouraged. The use of mint is for boosting a feeling of refreshment while the use of black pepper increases blood circulation and brings warmth to cold hands and feet.
“We are still going to add more ingredients for to the body scrubs. The support we are getting from people is amazing and some keep asking us what the body scrubs do to the human body,” she said.
“Since we began, we have sold all 10 jars at the start of the business. We are now heading to produce the second batch with special attention to those made with lemon,” she concluded.
The two women invested M500 each to kick start the enterprise.
