Dumisane Mkhondwane is a Lerotholi Polytechnic tourism management graduate who took advantage of Lesotho’s mountains to start his adventure company LMT Adventures.

Speaking to theReporter, Mkhondwane revealed that he got his inspiration during a school trip to Clarens in South Africa where he saw first-hand just how much of a cash spinner adventure and the outdoor life were.

LMT Adventures started operations in 2019. Their activities include hiking, archery, abseiling and trap jumping. All the activities take place at PTC mountain behind Maseru Mall.

He said he never dreamt of running an adventure company but, because of the high unemployment rate in Lesotho, he knew it was not going to be easy for him to find a job; so he needed to come up with a business idea after he graduated.

“Even though I never dreamt of being in this business, I developed the love and passion for it once it started and concluded that I could not imagine myself doing anything else.

“So far we have had over 600 people who have experienced our adventurous activities and supported us. We have this myth in our minds that Basotho do not support each other; they really do as long as you provide an excellent and satisfactory service.

“Our main goal is to see more people coming to experience what we have to offer, and reaching a point where we can take as many daily bookings as possible; at the moment we can only accommodate 16 people per day. We want people all around the country to experience our adventures and also be the biggest link in the tourism industry” he said.

Mkhondwane hinted that they are hoping to add more activities in the near future in order to be reach international standards and carter for international tourists. He said they want to make full use of the caves and mountains of Lesotho.

He said being in the business has been a learning journey for him as he has to teach people about these adventures while he himself learns a lot from people.

“People should come to us to conquer their fear of heights or anything because conquering your fears gives you a rare opportunity to learn more about yourself. People can come to us to suggest any place they would want to trap jump at or hike at, and we will make it happen,” he said

LMT Adventures is available on social media as ‘LMT Adventures’ and on their contacts: 59636614.
