The African Development Bank and the Southern African Development Bank (ADB) through the World Health Organisation (WHO) have provided the ministry of health with medical equipment.

The 26 items of the equipment worth M5million include biomedical, diagnostics and person protection equipment.

The equipment will however not only be used for COVID-19 purposes but for other reasons outside the pandemic.

During the handover, the WHO representative in Lesotho Richard Banda said the outbreak is putting tremendous pressure on the health system.

Banda added that this is the first stage and they are hoping for more to come.

The equipment is already being distributed to other health facilities like clinics.
