Metropolitan hosts annual retirement workshop

Local insurance company Metropolitan yesterday hosted the Metropolitan annual retirement workshop for members of the Metropolitan Provident Fund who are in their golden years. It was especially for members left with four years before retirement.

The workshop was an educational event that focused on holistic wellness approach for retiring members and addressing the psychological, physical, and financial wellness in preparation of retirement.

Speaking at the workshop, Metropolitan head of life Insurance Seinyane Nthejane said some of the objectives of the workshop is to sit down with the members to in a way prepare them financially and psychologically on retirement.

He said it is important that people who are retiring make sure that when the time comes, they should be able to focus on things they have always wanted to do. He said that way they will be create g a better future for upcoming generation.

To prepare the members psychologically. phycologist Lineo Chabeli touched on issues such as preparedness for retirement, behavioral changes, emotional stability and psychological effects of retirement.

She indicated that when people accept their age and the challenges that come with it, they will be able to accept the actualities of retirement.

Also present at the workshop were financial advisers who were advising members on the financial wellness in preparation of retirement.
