Police this week reported the arrest of four officials of the ministry of gender, youth, sports and recreation on suspicion of stealing government property.
According to Lesotho Mounted Police Service public relations officer Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, the suspects are two men and two women who were arrested last week on different days.
Mopeli says police received a tip off that the officials had stolen the goods that were from the Ha Rapokolana High Altitude Training Centre, which were meant to be taken to the ministry.
He said police launched investigations which lead to the arrest of the suspects. The property that was stolen, which the police recovered, includes couches, fridges, washing machines and curtains.
“Police are currently awaiting an order from the prosecutor so that the suspects can be officially charged. Police investigations are still continuing. We plead with the public to inform us if they know of any other government property that may have been stolen by these suspects,” he said.
