MISA Lesotho is in the process of mobilising funds towards the COVID-19 Media Relief Fund that was inaugurated in December 2020 at the onset of the second wave of the deadly global pandemic.

The media plays a frontline role in the fight against COVID-19 through information dissemination and education, but it has not been not spared the brunt of the chilling effects of the pandemic.

Since the advent of the Coronavirus, media houses in Lesotho have suffered substantially in terms of revenue generation; many have since cut staff benefits and retrenched journalists. Others have actually closed down.

However, MISA Lesotho launched the COVID-19 Media Relief Fund with the aim of extending a helping hand to different media houses and media practitioners to save the industry.

In an interview with theReporter, the national director of MISA Lesotho, Lekhetho Ntsukunyane stated that no media practitioner has been helped thus far.

Ntsukunyane said contributions it do not need to be in the form of money only, but material things like sanitizers and masks can also be donated to MISA premises at Happy Villa in Maseru.

Those who wish to assist financially may use the following banking details:

Name: MISA-LESOTHO MEDIA RELIEF FUND
Nedbank Account Number: 12990704188
Branch: PIONEER
Branch Code: 390861
Swift code: NEDLLSMX
