Robbery suspects nabbed

A 41-year old man of Ha Mabote, Mpho Seakha, appeared before the Maseru magistrate court on January 14 on charges of armed robbery. The suspect is said to be a suspended police officer.

Police reports indicate that Seakha is suspected to be one of the men who were involved in an armed robbery that happened at Ha Foso where men clad in police uniform robbed a local businessman of M51 750.

According to sub-inspector ‘Mareabetsoe Mofoka, the men were arrested one by one and Seakha is the latest suspect to be apprehended.

Mofoka said the suspect will appear before the Maseru magistrate court again on January 28 and is awaiting his appearance in police custody.

Another robbery suspect, a 49-year old man from Maphutṧeng Mohale’s Hoek, Khaiso Mapanya, who now resides at Khubetsoana, also appeared before Maseru magistrate court on January 14 in connection with a robbery involving M185 175 that occurred at Meraka Abattoir in December last year. 

According to police reports, the suspect was also an employee at Meraka. He will appear the court again on January 28. He remains in police custody.
