Textile factories at the Thetsane Industrial Estate Factories have already started implementing splitting their workforce into day and night shifts, in compliance with the orange level Covid-19 restrictions.
This measure is intended to reduce overcrowding of workers in the factories, thereby helping prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Under this arrangement, some factories have their workers take turns to work three days a week.
These measures were taken in compliance with Covid-19 rules and regulations that are placed to curb the surge of the virus. This dispensation, which is in response to the Prime Minister declaration of the restrictions. “The expectation is that everything will go back to normal after 14 days, unless the state of the virus worsens. Or rather, until the Prime Minister makes a follow up statement on the next step,” said union leader Monaheng Mokaoane.
