Ministry receives vendors’ data

The ministry of small business development, cooperatives and marketing says it has received data on all the vendors and small business owners in Maseru.

Minister Keketso Sello told the media yesterday that they ministry took it upon itself to meet with the associations and committees that represented all the small business owners to discuss how they were going to collect the data of all the vendors in Lesotho.

“This was not an easy job, it was very hard and it is with the help of this associations that we have acquired and compiled this data.” Sello said.

Principal secretary Tankiso Phapano said they came into the ministry to find that there was no data and at the time they had to respond to the Covid-19 relief funds of vendors, hence they made the decision to collect the data with the help of all representing bodies. They will give pass the data on to private service providers to process the relief funds of the vendors.

Phapano added that the ministry has compiled a list of over 6000 potential beneficiaries, and it took approximately four weeks to put together.
