Chess federation joins virtual tournament

The Chess Federation of Lesotho has accepted an invitation to field a team to represent Lesotho in the virtual Zone 4.5 Online Teams Chess Championships, which will take place from October 16-18.

The team will comprise 14 players and will include two substitutes. Due to the short notice the federation selected the team using the criteria for the Online Olympiad which was played in August. This tournament is shortened to one week, unlike the Online Olympiad, which took three weeks.

Ten countries are expected to take part in the tournament, but only Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique have confirmed the participation.
