A ministry of health team led by Minister Motlatsi Maqelepo yesterday bid farewell to the Chinese medical experts who had been deployed here to share their experiences and expertise on the prevention and treatment of Covid-19.

The anti-epidemic medical experts from China arrived in Lesotho on September27 with the aim of sharing their experience and skills about COVID-19.

Speaking at the send-off ceremony, Maqelepo expressed confidence that the skills they have acquired from the Chinese will help wipe out the deadly global pandemic in Lesotho.

“We will utilize the skills shared and they will go a long way. In the past, we did not invest in the health care system; we however want a resilient and reliable health care system.

“The presence of the medical experts made us realize that we need to build a strong health system. If there were to be a disease of this kind again, we will be more prepared in terms of ICU facilities, medical equipment and doctors,” Maqelepo said.
