The minister of tourism, environment and culture, Lekhetho Rakuoane, the minister of local government and chieftainship, Ts’oinyane Rapapa and president of Lesotho National Olympics Committee, yesterday announced a national cleaning campaign that will kick off in Maseru on Friday before extending to the rest of the country.

The initiative is aimed improving tourism in the country, and Rakuoane explained that it involves everyone, including small business owners and individuals.

The minister said no budget has been allocated specifically for this campaign, as he believed people will volunteer to take part in it.

The deputy president of LNOC, Tlali Rampooane said: “We have taken it upon ourselves to see that we keep Lesotho clean as Olympic games and youth need a clean environment to sustain themselves. In our quest to take up this initiative, we learned that the ministry of tourism has the same plan, so we joined forces with them.”
