The minister of foreign affairs and international relation, ‘Matṧepo Ramakoae ha confirmed that Lesotho’s High Commissioner to Canada, Ralechate Linclon ‘Mokose, passed on in the Canadian capital Ottawa yesterday after a short illness.
‘Mokose, who was 72 years old at the time of his death, had been Lesotho’s representative to Canada since July 2019.
Ramakoae told theReporter that government received news of Mr ‘Mokose’s passing this morning, but said they were waiting for more details.
“We received information that Ntate ‘Mokose had fallen ill and that he was attended by paramedics, but sadly he could not make it. We are waiting for more details,” Ramakoae said.
Born and raised in Kolonyama, Leribe, where he was also a resident, ‘Mokose was sent to Canada by King Letsie III to represent Lesotho there.
He has been described as a diligent servant of the people, a teacher and politician. He had also served as a cabinet minister for many years under different governments, having led the ministry of water and the ministry of forestry and land reclamation, among others.
