The Lesotho government has finally broken its silence on the detention of two Lesotho Defence Force members held in South Africa for over a month now.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, deputy prime minister Mathibeli Mokhothu will head a government delegation to South Africa next week, to follow up on the matter.
The two LDF members are facing criminal charges after they were arrested at the South African border town of Matatiele, while allegedly attempting to retrieve livestock stolen in Lesotho by South African cattle rustlers.
Meanwhile, two South African National Defence Force members and two immigration officers appeared before the Maseru Magistrates court on Friday, after being arrested for entering Lesotho illegally on Thursday.
