Prime minister Moeketsi Majoro and agriculture minister Tefo Mapesela, on Tuesday, officially launched the start of the summer cropping season.
In a bid to stimulate and maximise local food production, government will subsidise the prices of seeds and other inputs by up to 60 percent.
According to Majoro government intends to support farmers to produce enough food to feed their families and sell the surplus.
The subsidy will apply to beans, corn, fertilizers and pesticides.
