The Lesotho Medical Association says an undisclosed number of intern doctors have still not received personal protective equipment despite some of them having tested positive for Covid-19, and continue to await arrival of the equipment while in self-isolation at home.
According to the secretary general for the Lesotho Medical Association, Dr ‘Manethi Leponesa, the intern doctors have been twiddling their thumbs for about five weeks now.
“This does not only impact on our work but is also a waste of the intern doctors’ valuable time as they missing out on the training they should be receiving while working. As a result, we have had to extend their internship.”
