The United States of America (USA) government, through the US Ambassador to Lesotho Rebecca Gonzales, donated Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth M777 000.00 to the ministry of health on Thursday.
The equipment consists of 12,000 masks, 11,000 face shields and 250 thermos-scanners and was handed over to the minister of health Motlatsi Maqelepo at an occasion held at the National Drug Service Organisation (NDSO) premises in Mafeteng.
Maqelepo said the equipment will go a long way in helping health professionals manage the already confirmed cases.
As COVID-19 cases increases in Lesotho the minister called on all to stand in solidary, saying together the world can tackle the pandemic.
In the same token, the Ambassador said the partnership between Lesotho and United States of America will go a long way in addressing challenges facing the two countries as well as the entire world.
On behalf of NDSO General Manager, Matebele Sefali assured donors that they
will distribute the PPE to those at the forefront of fighting the spread of COVID-19.
