The Land Administration Authority (LAA) and Lesotho Post Bank this week launched the payment of ground rent the bank’s e-wallet facility popularly known as khetsi, a partnership that provides customers with the flexibility and convenience to pay for ground rent anywhere at any time.
Ground rent is an annual fee paid by a leaseholder for the use and occupation of the land parcel. Each land parcel has its own individual ground rent written on the lease of a plot.
With the collaboration, the two agencies commit to serving customers in a more client-oriented manner by laying a foundation that provides positive customer experience. They agree in the devoting available resources to improve customer value in order to generate lasting relationships.
LAA’s director general ‘Mataeli Makhele-Sekhantṧo said the collaboration is in the line with the authority’s core objective of being customer centric. She said by using khetsi, customers will enjoy the convenience of paying with ease and timeously.
“We are most excited by the partnership as through it, both our customers will be provided with the flexibility and convenience to pay for ground rent anywhere anytime. As LAA we pride ourselves on being customer-centric. This is in line with our core objectives of being customers-centric,” Makhele-Sekhantṧo said.
She indicated that by using khetsi customers will therefore enjoy the convenience of paying with ease and timeously. She said they are hoping that this initiative is a start of new partnerships that both LAA and Post Bank will enter into for a more mutually beneficial relationship.
“I therefore urge and encourage Basotho to take advantage of this platform as it is indeed cost effective; one does not need to travel long distances in some cases merely to make a payment at LAA or at the banks,” she said.
Lesotho Post Bank’s managing director Molefi Leqhaoe enthused that the collaboration between two agencies is what he has always dreamt of because they came together for the benefit of Basotho.
He described khetsi as cost effective and easy to access, whether customers have smartphones or just regular phones, and it is accessible on both local networks.
“We came up with khetsi because we wanted Basotho avoid long queues and still be able to pay for their ground rents even when they are out of the country. We made khetsi to be affordable for Basotho as it has very affordable chargers and we are sure our customers will love that,” Leqhaoe said.
