The Director of Animal Health at the Department of Forestry and Fisheries and South Africa has imposed a ban on imports of live animals susceptible to anthrax including wool from Lesotho.
In a letter written to Director of General Veterinary Services Lesotho, states “All veterinary import permits issued before 11 May will be cancelled, In transit consignments of livestock and livestock products from Lesotho will not be allowed. South Africa will be prepared to review information regarding risk mitigation measures put in place by Lesotho.”
